Open Garden WarfareBy Colin HumeSusanna is proud of her garden, so proud that she wants to open it to discriminating members of the public – and she sticks to the rule that has served her throughout ten years of marriage: Susanna knows best. After a good deal of hard work by her rather erratic handyman, she waits eagerly for the Open Gardens Society’s verdict… Only her husband Bill is unsurprised when Christine, the inspector, gives their garden less than full marks. Susanna is not amused! And it doesn’t help that Bill finds Christine attractive and sympathetic in a way that his wife has rarely been… Susanna is determined to see that everything in the garden is rosy – but what about the rest of her life?
