The Half Crown Wife

In the middle of the bitter winter of 1816, deserter Martin Bovey and his wife Ann arrive in Oakhampton to attend the town’s historic Giglet Fair where Martin intends to sell his wife to the highest bidder.

Local smallholder and poet, Henry Fryer is shocked and takes action to protect Ann much to the consternation of his mother and the local clergyman.

Based on a true story this is a tale of love found in the most unusual circumstances.
